Choden means to possess the Dharma\u00a0 (cho means the Buddha Dharma in Tibetan).<\/p>\n<p>The Ewam Choden Tibetan Buddhist Center is located in Kensington, a<br \/>\nresidential community situated north of Berkeley, California.<\/p>\n<p>Founded and continuously overseen by Lama Kunga Rimpoche since 1973, Ewam Choden was one of the earliest Tibetan Buddhist centers on the west coast.<\/p>\n<p>Under the guidance of the accomplished Vajrayana master and resident<br \/>\nteacher, Lama Kunga Thartse Rimpoche, the center offers a wide variety<br \/>\nof classes and activities. Lama Kunga Rinpoche gives regular<br \/>\nempowerments and teachings, along with a weekly compassion meditation<br \/>\npractice on Sunday mornings.\u00a0 Occasionally, there are classes in spoken and written Tibetan, and translation work is done.\u00a0 The Center hosts visiting<br \/>\nLamas and holds events for special occasions, such as, significant<br \/>\ndates in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar, and Losar, the Tibetan New Year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ewam Choden was established to provide an opportunity for the practice and study of Tibetan Buddhism and culture.\u00a0 The word Ewam signifies the integration and union of method and wisdom, compassion and voidness.
