They are open to everyone.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>THIS INFORMATION IS DIRECTLY FROM KHENPO PEMA.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>FRIDAY, December 21, 2018&#8212;&#8211;Friday evening public talk: <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">&#8220;Exploring Patience and Its Strength&#8221;<\/span>: Part II<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The enduring positive effects of peace, loving-kindness, and compassion, and everything else that is good in human nature\u2014its<br \/>\nvalues and ethics, its aspirations and goals\u2014are possible only when combined with the strength of the power of patience. Without<br \/>\nthat strength, these values, profound and noble though they may be, are often seen to be fragile and frail, and thus are neglected,<br \/>\nignored, and misunderstood even by those who aspire to live by them.<\/p>\n<p>Drawing on the teachings of Buddha, the virtues of patience, in the length and depth of its meaning, will be presented as an<br \/>\nindispensable component of and the very key to a successful life, spiritual or mundane, and every meaningful thing we do: at home,<br \/>\nat work, in social life, education, health, and all else that is conceivable. Our measure of accomplishment is fundamentally based on<br \/>\na solid foundation of patience.<\/p>\n<p>The talk includes discussion, meditation on the subject of patience, and question-and-answer session.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SATURDAY and SUNDAY, December 22 and 23, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Sojong and Lojong Weekend Retreat with the Venerable Khenpo Pema Wangdak (over two separate days)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The three most influential Lojong texts, &#8220;Parting From the 4 Attachment,&#8221; &#8220;Eight Verse Lojong,&#8221; and the &#8220;Seven Point Mind Training,&#8221;<br \/>\nthat sustained the spirit and purpose of life of millions over the centuries, will re-read, reviewed, and reflected accompanied by a<br \/>\nstep by step alternating meditation throughout the day. We will do this as a reminder and as well as a introduction for those who<br \/>\nare new the Lojong teachings that every worth in this world and our life is rooted in the spirit of compassion and kindness that is<br \/>\nnurtured by joy of life and equanimity of the mind.<\/p>\n<p>This will be a group practice sessions for the beginners and regular students alike. The schedule will consist of alternating<br \/>\nperiods of teachings, practice, and guided meditations.<\/p>\n<p>Sojong will be observed Sunday, with participants taking the eight precepts at the beginning of the day. The Sojong is<br \/>\na introduction to a deliberate act in keeping with the disciplines of the humanity as taught by Buddha. It also is the very foundation<br \/>\nfor everything possible from the very basic qualities of life to the highest of the esoteric spiritual ventures and everything we aspires<br \/>\nfor in this and beyond this life. Dedicated practitioners, believers, non-believers alike, curious, as well as beginners, all are welcome<br \/>\nto attend this weekend meeting.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>ABOUT KHENPO PEMA WANGDAK<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2028In 1982, he was sent to the West by His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin, as the first of the younger generation of Tibetan teachers in America from the Sakya School. In 1989 Khenpo Pema founded the Vikramasila Foundation. The Foundation encompasses the Palden Sakya Centers in New York City, Woodstock, NY, Philmont, NY, Englewood, NJ, Springfield, VT, Portland, ME, and Dayton OH. The Palden Sakya Centers offer courses in Tibetan Buddhist studies and meditation. Khenpo Pema is the creator of &#8220;Bur Yig&#8221;&#8211;Tibetan Braille, and the founder of Pema Ts&#8217;al (English for Lotus Grove) Schools in Mundgod, India (for Tibetan lay children); Pokhara, Nepal (monastic schools for boys); and Pema Ts&#8217;al School in New York City, with a curriculum modeled on that of Sakya College, India. Khenpo Pema was recognized with the title of &#8220;Khenpo&#8221; by His Holinessthe 41st Sakya Trizin in 2007. He received the distinguished \u201cEllis Island Medal of Honor\u201d award by the National Ethical Coalition of Organizations in May, 2009 at Ellis Island for his humanitarian work around the world.
