LKR Birthday in the Park!
Well we had the annual EC BDayBBQ for LKR on Aug 9, and it was a rousing success!
A fine day, not to hot and, even better, not too cold (for those who know these Bay Area summers….!) and many turned out to pay their respects to Rinpoche after his now-fading malady.
Rinpoche-la was in great spirits and health. It was also an opportunity for both Rinpoche and Ewam Choden to publically thank Ani Gendun for her absolutely essential service to Rinpoche during those recent hard times. Below, that’s her with Rinpoche!

Today, July 25th, is Lama Kunga Rinpoche’s birthday.
His Dharma students wish him a most happy and healthy birthday. We are grateful for his presence, his assorted teachings and empowerments, his kindness and guidance, and particularly for putting us on the Buddhist path and maintaining it.
Rinpoche, we prostrate to you, and thank you, and request you to remain with us for a long long time.

Hi everyone, I just checked in with Robin, who had just checked in with Kaiser about Rinpoche, and here’s the skinny: Rinpoche-la is doing great! The diagnosis is that it is most probably h – phylori, the bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers. The blood work shows some presence of it, but the biopsy was inconclusive. This is probably from the sample being too small since they didn’t want a larger one, which could have started the bleeding again!
No news yet on the state of his continuation with the blood thinner medication.
But he’s on a battery of antibiotics, and his strength is returning fast! He went to the mall today and is currently at his evening sculpture class!
P. S. Rinpoche wanted me to share this image of a hospital visit from Lama Lodu (of San Francisco, Kagyu Droden Kunchab). Some of you may have already seen it, and he really likes it!
